HEATHSVILLE—Thomas Daffron Miller, 90, died April 21, 2026, at home with his wife, Marianne.
Born in Richmond on July 27, 1935, and educated in Richmond and Charlottesville, he pursued a career in retail merchandising and consulting. He retired to the Northern Neck in 2000 where he invested his time in the community with organizations like the Rotary, the Baytones, Festival Chorale, Lions, the Reedville Fisherman’s Museum and the Boat Club, where he forged deep friendships that he cherished.
His love of books, ideas and humor led him to author the “Plagiarism of the Day,” a daily email where he would send a thought that amused him to nearly 100 “subscribers,” friends and family who could and did reply to his delight. He never missed a day for over a decade.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Hall Miller; his daughter and son-in-law, Lucie and Frank André of Baltimore, Md.; his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Miller of Westfield, N.J.; as well as his grandchildren, Evelyn and Wyatt Miller and Parrish André.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local charity of the donor’s choice.
