The Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association (TOGA) recently announced a high school essay contest.
After sponsoring middle school writing contests the past 11 years, TOGA will now offer it to high school students instead, reported contest chairman Terry Lewis. The change is being made because many high school students are anxious to find money to help continue their education.
Prizes will be $500, $250 and $100 for first, second and third places, respectively. A prize of $200 also will be awarded to the school of the top entry. The theme is “Consider the Oyster.” Entries must….
