
FARNHAM—Tonya Lee Creasy died in her sleep at Farnham Manor, Farnham, on Friday, July 10, 2020. She was born September 26, 1941.
Tonya was raised in Texas. She graduated from Strayer College with a bachelor’s in business administration. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Social Security Administration.
Promoted beyond Social Security state district management positions, she went on to public policy making and worked at the White House for the Public Employees Round Table under the Reagan and Bush Administrations and throughout the Clinton Administration. She earned great praise and written accommodations for her merit.
Tonya then moved to the Northern Neck to retire. However, she later earned her master’s in education to work with Rappahannock Community College and its Work-Force Development Program.
Tonya worked in adult education and trained other adult education teachers. She also wrote articles for local papers.
She attended Afton Methodist Church.
Tonya was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kenneth Creasy; mother, Ruth Berdette Smith; and father, Chauncey Karl Lundberg.
She is survived by son, Chauncey Karl Matye and grandchildren, Hunter, Cheyenne, Ashley and Brandy; son, Bobby Lee Rogers; brother, Paul Berdette Lundberg; sister, Diana Porper; sister, Carolynn Markley; stepson, Jack “Chipper” Creasy; and stepdaughter, Audra Hope Moore.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, at Afton Methodist Church.
