Town, merchants and public to collaborate on Hometown Heroes project in White Stone

WHITE STONE—White Stone’s Hometown Heroes banners should be on display by early August, according to town council member AnnGardner Eubank.

Reporting to council on July 6, Eubank, who serves as the banner committee chair, said a change in vendors delayed the arrival of the banners. However, the new vendor’s price point for larger banners equals what the town had planned to spend on much smaller banners.

Originally, the town planned to place garden flag-sized banners in the Town Green. Instead, “for the same price, we’re getting larger ones,” said Eubank. The town will now display 18-inch by 36-inch banners, the same size as those that are on display in Kilmarnock.

Some 17 banners have been ordered. They should arrive in the next two weeks, said Eubank. The banners will be displayed in the windows of several businesses in town.

“With the revitalization project, we’ll have them hanging from the new light poles next year,” she said.

The shipping delay means a dedication ceremony probably won’t be…..
