Treasurer’s office will close for turnover audit

HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Treasurer’s Office will be closed December 27-29 for county and state turnover audits. The Treasurer’s Office and DMV Select will reopen on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

Whenever a county or city treasurer leaves office, a turnover audit is performed to ensure all funds and accounts are in balance. The last time this was performed was in 1979 when current treasurer Ellen Booker Kirby was first elected. Kirby is the longest serving county treasurer in the Commonwealth. She is also the longest serving Northumberland County treasurer.
