TriWay trail effort gains momentum

The TriWay Trail, a public-private partnership, is a newly launched effort to create a multi-use trail for cyclists and pedestrians in the Northern Neck.

The initiative recently was awarded a $135,000 grant through the Virginia Outdoors Foundation’s (VOF) Preservation Trust Fund. This seed funding will support a newly-created nonprofit that is promoting and facilitating the multi-phase project and serve to launch the initial community engagement and planning process for the effort.

Identified by local leaders as a flagship initiative in the community, the proposed 9.5-mile trail will connect Kilmarnock, Irvington and White Stone. In an area that has never had trail infrastructure of this kind before, the TriWay will provide a safe, off-road connection to many….
