Two Lancaster schools collaborate for reading

In recognition of National Read a Book Day on Wednesday, September 6, Amanda Ambrose and Dawn Marie Ickes launched a promising new endeavor for the Lancaster Early Childhood Center and Lancaster Elementary School.

Ten seventh grade students joined the five classes of preschool 3- and 4-year olds to read books aloud to them. The seventh graders were chosen as positive role models.

Reading to children has been proven to help improve fluency and expression while reading. This also helps to improve comprehension skills which….
