LANCASTER—Following public hearings on Thursday, February 17, the Lancaster planning commission approved two rezoning applications for commercial designation. Related discussion highlighted the difficulty in balancing residential and commercial needs along this stretch of Irvington Road.
Norm Faulkner, president of NWP Energy, is developing a .73-acre parcel at 3531 Irvington Road. “Inside, we’re planning on displaying gas logs and gas appliances. Outside we’re hoping to display fire pits and outdoor kitchens,” he said.
To achieve his goals, Faulkner was seeking to rezone the property from limited commercial (C2) to commercial (C1).
Planning commission chairman Ty Brent reminded everyone that the property was “a gas station with gas pumps and everything outside at one particular time. We love when businesses expand locally.”
Commission member David Chupp was concerned about shielding the view, to which Faulkner said, “I can assure you that it would be a tasteful presentation” with a decorative fence and a partial roof to protect items from….
