Gardening

Gardening in the Northern Neck, hosted by the Northern Neck Master Gardeners, will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the White Stone Church of the Nazarene, 57 Whisk Drive, White Stone. The theme will be “Landscape, Viewscape, Escape!”

The event features speakers and vendors. The seminar fee is $50. Registration forms are at www.nnmg.org.

The Lancaster Players will present “The 39 Steps: A Live Radio Play” at The Lancaster Playhouse, 361 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Shows are slated at 8 p.m. March 25 and 26. The theater will open an hour prior to each performance.

Oyster roast

Mary Ball Washington Chapter of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge will hold an oyster roast from 2-5 p.m.Sunday, March 27, at 838 Long Point Lane in Topping. The fee is $40 per person, prepaid.

For reservations, call 804-758-3432 or 804-453-9156. Following the call, send check made out to MBW-FFVF and mail to P.O. Box 294, Locust Hill, VA 23092. Once the check is received, patrons will receive a confirmation immediately by email or phone.

Resource fair

The annual Resource Family Fun Fair, presented by the Northumberland County Department of Social Services will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 2 at the Northumberland Family YMCA, 6348 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.

Enjoy a free boxed lunch while exploring community resources available to families. There will be door prizes and activities.

Vineyard opera

Capitol Opera Richmond will present Music in the Books at 3 p.m. April 3 at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.

Spring Strings

The Northern Neck Orchestra (NNO) will present “Spring Strings” at 2 p.m. April 10 at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.

Tickets to the chamber concert are $30 and may be purchased at www.northernneckorchestra.org, or at the check-in desk. Students will be admitted at no charge.

Zooming history

The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society Zooming in Local History Virtual Speaker Series will feature “Where History and Fiction Intersect: Writing the Story of Rev. David Lindsay of Wicomico Parish Church,” by Nan Harvey, at 3 p.m. April 14.

The series is free for LVHS members and $5 for others. Advance registration is required. Register at lancastervahistory.org or 462-7280.

Music festival

“Something About Mary” will be held from noon-5 p.m. May 1 on the beach at Willaby’s, 327 Old Ferry Road, White Stone. The lineup will include Resa & Jackie of MSG, Mercy Creek, Christine Whitaker Wiggins, Midnight Coal and DeadRise.

The fee for this  21-and-over event is $50. Proceeds raise money for MJ Anderson and her family to mitigate the costs of cancer treatment. To purchase tickets, email Marnie Leichty at [email protected]. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
