Metal sculptor

A Special Evening With…metal sculpture artist John Latell will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Wicomico Forge in Weems. Attendees will see completed metal sculptures and artwork, as well as in-process works.

Poker Run

Registration is underway for the Northern Neck Rotary Club’s second Poker Run on the Water Saturday, July 16. There will be seven checkpoints along the Rappahannock River.

First Africans Day

Stratford Hall, 485 Great House Road, Stratford, will celebrate First Africans Day, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, July 16. The event will commemorate the enslaved Africans and African Americans who built and sustained Stratford Hall and the Lee family for generations.

This will be a free, full day of remembering and honoring those enslaved at Stratford Hall and their descendants, through music, storytelling, special tours, and lectures. The full schedule is available at stratfordhall.org.

Creativity exercise

A Special Evening With… author Bess Haile will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. She will guide participants through an approach to unleash creativity and channel it into action.

Daisy Crazy

The Woman’s Club of White Stone will host a Daisy Crazy Fashion Show Luncheon at 10:30 a.m., July 28, followed by an afternoon of games at the WCWS Clubhouse, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. 

Proceeds will benefit the club’s financial need-based scholarship fund for Lancaster County students attending Rappahannock Community College. The fee is $30 per person. For reservations contact Wanda Little at  [email protected] or 436-7144.

Concert series

The 2022 Music by the River  concert series continues at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster. A $5 parking fee is payable at the park entrance.

The schedule includes Garden Variety String Band, July 16; RTC Band, August 13; Southern Grace, August 20; and Patsy & the Country Classics, September 3. Concerts begin at 6 p.m.

Concert bus

The Kilmarnock Museum will sponsor a bus trip November 5 to see the Rhonda Vincent Show at the Old Dominion Barn Dance, Beacon Theater, Hopewell. The bus will depart the Chesapeake Commons parking lot at approximately noon.

Tickets are $110 each and include transportation, show admission, snacks on the bus and a special appearance by several performers on the bus following the show. To order tickets, call 462-7608 or 296-0930.
