Annual meeting
The Friends of Northumberland Public Library will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. today, September 3, at NPL, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.
The meeting, open to anyone who would like to attend, will focus on accomplishments of the past year as well as goals for the coming year.
Movietime
Upcoming Movies on the Half Shell Stage at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, will include Back to the Future on September 3 and Coco on September 17.
The free movies will begin at sunset.
Wine & Whiskers
Garfields Rescue Inc. will host Wine & Whiskers from 5-7:30 p.m. today, September 3 at Trinity Episcopal Church Pavilion, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster. The event will offer wine, hors d’oeuvres, music, 50/50 raffle, slideshow and silent auction.
Tickets are $60. Tickets may be purchased at www.garfieldsrescuecharity.com, Bayside Animal Hospital, RAL Art Center and Reedville Fishermen’s Museum.
Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 4:30-6 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.
Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $14 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
Crab feast
The Northumberland County Community Center Organization (NCCCO), 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville, will sponsor an all-you-can-eat crab feast from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, September 5.
The menu will include lots of hot crabs, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, corn on the cob, iced tea and water for $50. Beer and wine also will be available for purchase. For ticket information, call call 580-4030 or 577-3414.
SAR lunchoen
The Richard Henry Lee Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 8, at the Bayne Conference Center, Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. Lunch will be served at noon.

Woman’s club
The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County (WCNC) will meet Tuesday, September 8, at the WCMC Clubhouse, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg. Doors will open at noon for light refreshments. The meeting will begin at 12:30 p.m.
The speaker will be Mary Beth Hughes of the Montague Cooking School.
Crab feast
The Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will hold its annual crab feast from 3-5 p.m. September 12. The menu will include steamed crabs, hot dogs, sides and desserts. Bring a crab knife, but leave pets coolers and take-home containers at home.

Music festival
The eighth annual Northern Neck Beach Music Festival will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. September 12 and 13 on Town Hill in Colonial Beach. Participants can expect dancing, food, beverages and raffles. Saturday music will include Feature Attraction Band (FAB) and The Chris Sacks Band. Sunday music will include River Rock and Band of Oz.

Chorale rehearsals
The Chesapeake Chorale will begin rehearsals for its 29th holiday concert season at 7 p.m. September 14, at Grace Episcopal Church, 303 South Main Street, Kilmarnock, and will continue each Monday through November.
Auditions are not required. Concerts will be held December 5 at Lancaster Elementary School and December 6 at St. Clare Walker Middle School. The Chorale also will present music for Holly and the Ivy at December 7 at Historic Christ Church & Museum.
RCA season
Tickets are on sale for the Rappahannock Concert Association (RCA) 2026-27 season. Five performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Northumberland High School, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville. The sixth concert will begin at 3 p.m. at Generals Ridge Vineyard, 1818 Weldons Ridge Road, Hague. The season will open September 19 with the Jeff Little Trio.
A season subscription for five shows at NHS is $135 reserved seating, or $110 general admission. Other options include a pick three, $70; or individual show tickets, $35 each. Tickets for the show at Generals Ridge are $20. Purchase tickets at rappahannockconcerts.org, or 1-888-210-8006.
Photo Group
The Rappahannock Art League Photo Group seeks new members of all levels who wish to improve their skills. The Photo Group meets at 10 a.m. on third Mondays at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

Rise & Fall
The Essex County Museum and Historical Society, 218 South Water Lane, Tappahannock, will host the Rise & Fall Festival September 25 through 27. The heritage celebration will offer free activities for all ages Saturday and Sunday.
The Ship’s Company Chanteymen will perform from 5-6:30 p.m. Friday. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $20. Dom Flemons will perform traditional roots music from 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $40. On Stage
Tickets are on sale for the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts 2026-27 On Stage season at the Lancaster High School Auditorium and Performing Arts Center, 100 Visionary Way, Irvington. Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. The season will open September 26 with the Virginia Symphony.
