Annual meeting

 The Friends of Northumberland Public Library will hold its annual meeting at 5 p.m. today, September 4, at the library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.

This meeting is a great opportunity for anyone interested in joining the Friends board to see and hear what the group is all about. An overview of past accomplishments will be given.

Wine & Whiskers

Garfield’s Rescue Inc. will hold a Wine & Whiskers gala from 5-7:30 p.m. today, September 4, at Trinity Episcopal Church Pavilion, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster.

Bluegrass

Bluegrass and classic country music will be featured at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 6, at the Urbanna Firehouse, 335 Virginia Street, Urbanna. Donations are appreciated for the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Fiber guild

The Five Rivers Fiber Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, September 8, at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington.

Visitors and new members are welcome for “show and tell.” Bring a lunch or purchase a meal at the Lakeview Grille. 

Woman’s club

The Woman’s Club of Northumberland County will meet at noon, Tuesday, September 9, at the WCNC Clubhouse, 2928 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg. Refreshments will be served at noon and the meeting will follow at 12:30 p.m. Terrie Dort will speak on the Northern Neck Partners for Pets.

New members are welcome to join the WCNC at this time.

Crab Feast

The Morattico Waterfront Museum (MWM), 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will host its 13th annual Crab Feast from 3-5 p.m. September 13. The menu will include all-you-can-eat steamed crabs, hot dogs, sides, desserts, and soft drinks. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

Crab feast tickets are $50 for adults, $10 for ages 6-12, and free for ages 5 and younger. Purchase tickets by September 6 from MWM board members, or Connie Conley, mwmva03@gmail.com, 761-6213.

EMS event

The Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad, 7990 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will host an EMS Community Yard & Bake Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. September 13. The event also will offer music, lunch items from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and family fun.

A “Truck Touch” experience will offer a chance to explore emergency medical service, fire and law enforcement vehicles.

Music festival

The Northern Neck Beach Music Festival will be held from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. September 13 and 14 at Town Hill Park in Colonial Beach. The lineup brings a mix of “Jimmy Buffet,” Motown, Carolina beach music and rhythm and blues.

NNO tickets

Tickets are on sale for the Northern Neck Orchestra’s 2025-26 season. Five concerts are scheduled at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

On Stage

Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts On Stage season tickets are on sale. Five shows are planned at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock, for the “Magical Medleys” series.

Gala tickets

The Boys & Girls of the Northern Neck (BGCNN), 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, recently announced its annual Reach for the Stars dinner and auction will be held at 5:30 p.m. September 18.
