Stratford men
Commemorating the Lives: The Lee Men of Stratford Hall weekend events will open Saturday, January 18, with a special $5 admission day. Explore the Great House and grounds as Stratford Hall honors Francis Lightfoot Lee, Richard Henry Lee, Henry “Light-Horse Harry” Lee and Robert E. Lee.
The admission will cover the house and grounds for ages 6 and older. Admission is free for ages 5 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.
Lee Lecture
Dr. Caroline E. Janney will deliver the 2025 Lee Lecture at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 19, in the Jessie Ball duPont Memorial Library at Stratford Hall Historic Preserve, 483 Great House Road, Stratford. Dr. Janney will present Unintended and Unexpected: Lee’s Army after Appomattox.

Burns event
The Kilmarnock & District Pipe Band will hold its annual Tribute to Robert Burns event January 25 at the Masonic Lodge #100, 1434 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock. The program will focus on a concert with piping, singing, poetry and dancing. The event will offer snacks and set-ups (BYOB). Doors will open at 1 p.m., the program will begin at 2 p.m.

U.B.U. The Band
The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) will launch its Winter Music Series with a performance by U.B.U. The Band. The concert will be held January 25 at the BGCNN Clubhouse Activity Center, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m.
Beer, wine and food concessions will be available to purchase. Concert tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased in advance at BGCNN locations, 8200 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville; 9514 Richmond Road, Warsaw; or 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Super Bowl chili
The Woman’s Club of White Stone, 560 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone, recently announced its third annual Super Bowl chili sale. Place orders by February 3 for pickup from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. February 8.

Winter lecture
The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum 2025 Winter Lecture Series will continue at 6:30 p.m. February 3 at the Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department, 119 Main Street, Reedville.
The presentation will be “Oystering 101 by the Tidewater Oyster Growers Association.” Association representatives will offer the basics for “growing your own” oysters and “how to” get started with oyster cages.
Jazz On Stage
The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts On Stage series will continue at 7:30 p.m. February 8 at the Lancaster Elementary School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. Good Shot Judy will perform classic swing, crooner favorites and original compositions.

Meet Washington
Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville, will host “An Afternoon With George Washington, Your Humble Servant” at 3 p.m. February 16. Patrons may chat with George Washington, enjoy a light buffet of some of his favorite foods and hot mulled cider.

Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.
Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
