Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 4:30-6 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.
Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $14 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
Pirates screenings
“Pirates on the Bay,” a new documentary recounting the life of pirates who prowled the waters of the Chesapeake Bay during the 17th and 18th centuries, will be shown at 4 p.m. Monday, October 5, and 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, at Compass Cinema Six, 100 Entertainment Drive, Irvington.

BGCNN gala
The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck will host the Reach for the Stars fundraising gala beginning at 5:30 p.m. October 8 at the BGCNN, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Highlights will include presentation of the William H. Knull Jr. Community Service Award to Dr. June B. Daffeh; STEM achievement, cocktails, dinner and auctions.

Movietime
Upcoming Movies on the Half Shell Stage at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, will include Toy Story, October 8; Hocus Pocus, October 29; Elf, December 10; and The Polar Express, December 17.
The free movies will begin at sunset. The December movies will be available to enjoy from the comfort of automobiles.
Oyster roast
Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will host its 18th annual Oyster Roast from 3-5 p.m. October 17. The menu will include roasted and raw oysters, ham biscuits, hush puppies, sweet potato fries, salad and homemade desserts. Bring oyster knives.

Auditions
The Westmoreland Players, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao, recently announced auditions for “Young Frankenstein,” a musical adaptation by comedy genius Mel Brooks. Auditions will be held at 9 a.m. October 10. Young Frankenstein is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.

Daffodil forum
The Gloucester Daffodil Club (GDC) will host the American Daffodil Society (ADS) Middle Atlantic Region Fall Forum from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. October 24 at the Fine Arts museum of Gloucester, 6894 Main Street, Gloucester. In addition to speakers on a variety of daffodil topics, the event will include receptions, garden tours, a boutique and tastings from Daffodils and Delicacies, Divine Dining.

Arts celebration
RAL will host the Rally in the Alley community celebration from 2-6 p.m. October 25 in the parking lot off Cralle Court, Kilmarnock. The event will include tours of the new RAL Community Arts Center at 45 North Main Street, music by The Band from Misfit Beach, food, drink, art and dancing.
