Music on the Half Shell Stage
The Music on the Half Shell Stage concert series will continue from 7-9:30 p.m. Friday, October 6, at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Shades of Grey will offer R&B, rock, classic, soul, disco and requests.
Admission is by season pass or individual show tickets, $10 each. Tickets will be sold at kilmarnockva.ticketleap.com and at the door.
Fall Festival
The Friends of Belle Isle State Park, in partnership with the Northern Neck Master Naturalists, will host a Fall Festival from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, October 7, at Belle Isle State Park, 1632 Belle Isle Road, Lancaster.
There will be wagon rides, pumpkin carving ($3), games, prizes and s’mores.
Fall lecture
The Middlesex County Museum will host a fall fundraising event from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 8, at Rosegill, 1824 Urbanna Road, Urbanna. The speaker will be Theodore McCord. He will address a December 29, 1741, wedding that brought together the Grymes and Page families.
Appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for others or at the door. Tickets may be purchased at middlesexmuseum.com, or the museum, 777 General Puller Highway, Saluda.
Seafood boil
The Northern Neck Farm Museum/Luther Welch Agricultural Center, 12705 Northumberland Highway, Horse Head, will hold Fall Farm to Fork Seafood Boil at 5 p.m. October 14. Following light refreshments, a “hands on” meal will be served. The menu will include steamed crabs, shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn, beverages and dessert.
The fee is $50 per person. Tickets may be purchased by contacting a board member or by calling Barbara Jean Jones, 450-2373 before October 9.
It Takes All Types
The Bay Center will offer It Takes All Types, a workshop series on psychological type and temperament. Topics include Basics of Temperament, October 11; Relating to Children, October 18; In the Classroom, October 25; Partners and Friends, November 1; and Career, November 8.

Black Cat Murphy
The Music on the Half Shell Stage, Black Cat Murphy concert, twice postponed, is now scheduled from 7-9:30 p.m. October 13 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Caregiver support
A caregiver support session will be held from 2-3 p.m. October 19, at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. Cate Hawks will present Risk Factors of Dementia and Strategies for Reducing Risk.

Wren Masters
The Rappahannock Concert Association will present the Wren Masters – Baroque Quartet at 7:30 p.m. October 21 at the Northumberland School Complex Theater, 201 Academic Lane, Heathsville. The early music quartet specializes in 17th and 18th century music played on period instruments.

Farm festival
The Northern Neck Farm Museum/Luther Welch Agricultural Center, 12705 Northumberland Highway, Horse Head, will hold a Fall Festival from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. October 21. A corn maze, corn wagon, sawmill, crafts, hayrides and pumpkins will be available for all to enjoy. Master Gardeners will be in the community garden.
The museum board has planned a threshing demonstration and a chainsaw exhibit. Antique cars will be displayed onsite and FFA members will bring friendly farm animals. Concessions will be available. Admission is $10, including the corn maze.
Oyster roast
Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will host its 14th annual Oyster Roast from 3-5 p.m. October 21. Roasted oysters, sides and desserts included. Bring your own oyster knife. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Oyster Wars
Historian and author Kate Livie will be featured at the 2023 John H. Hunt II Chesapeake History Forum from 4-7 p.m. October 21 at Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. Livie will share stories of money, mayhem and murder from the Oyster Wars.
The event features fresh oysters, handcrafted cocktails and a light supper. Tickets are $60. Purchase tickets at christchurch1735.org, or call 438-6855.
Wreaths
CASA is taking orders for 22-inch Fraser fir wreaths. To order, send a check payable to NNCASA in the amount of $27 per wreath to P.O. Box 695, Lancaster, VA 22503. The deadline is October 25.
Wreaths will be distributed at Jeff’s Packaging in Kilmarnock from 4-6 p.m. November 30 and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. December 1 and 2; at Primis Bank in Burgess from 10 a.m.-noon December 2; and at the Saddlery in Warsaw from noon-2 p.m. December 2. Indicate choice of pickup location on the check.
