Trunk Or Treat
Irvington will celebrate Halloween with its annual trunk or treat on the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive today, October 31. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and feature a parade of children and pets at 6 p.m.
The trunk or treat is open to ages 12 and younger in costume and accompanied by a parent. Costumed pets are invited to join in as well.
English Tea
Tickets are available for the Friends of the Library English Tea from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, November 3, at Northumberland Public Library, 7204 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.
The menu will include tea service with milk or lemon, homemade scones with cream, egg sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches and sweets. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the library.
Murder mystery
The Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock, will present Midway to Murder: An Homage to a 1950’s Carnival Midway at 6 p.m. November 8. 1950s costumes are encouraged.

Chicken dinners
Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville.
Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
Marine Corps Birthday Ball
Marine Corps League Detachment 1062 will commemorate the 249th birthday of the Marine Corps with a Marine Corps Birthday Ball at Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club November 8. The guest speaker will be retired U.S. Marine Corps Major General Mike E. Ennis.

Photo show
Reflections-A Photography Show to benefit the Kilmarnock Museum will be held from 6-9 p.m. November 8 at Hills Quarter Community Center, 723 Old Saint Johns Road, Irvington.
Photos will be on display that explore the beauty of the area and historic past. Light hors d’oeuvres, wine and beverages will be served. Music will be provided by Dave Hershiser. Photos will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public.
Bay concert
Concerts by the Bay will present Kate Voss and the Hot Sauce at 3 p.m. November 17, at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium, Mathews High School, 9889 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews. Admission is by subscription, or $30 at the door; students free.
Festival of Trees
The 27th annual Festival of Trees will be held at the Northern Neck Family YMCA at 6 p.m. December 7. Tickets are $75 each and can be purchased at https://www.ymcavp.org/fot or 435-0223.
Christmas show
The Kilmarnock Museum recently announced a bus trip to the Old Dominion Barn Dance Christmas Show on December 14 to see Wilson Fairchild and Hunter Owens. A chartered coach will depart from Chesapeake Commons in Kilmarnock at 11:30 a.m. and return by 10 p.m. A nonrefundable $135 fee includes roundtrip fare, seats to the show and snacks on the bus.
The bus will stop for dinner on the return trip at Nick’s Spaghetti and Steak House in Shacklefords. Dinner is not included in the fee. To reserve a seat, call Mary Brent, 238-8738, or Ashburn, 296-0930. Cash or checks payable to Kilmarnock Museum is expected at time of booking.
