Chili cook off
The Slips, 285 Kinsale Road, Kinsale, will host a chili cook off from 1-3 p.m. Friday, November 28. Buy a tasting plate to cast a vote for the best Black Friday chili. Ten competitors have signed up.
The event will feature music by the Westmoreland High School Marching Band, burn barrels, full cash bar, dancing to stay warm, and a cold plunge for the brave. In addition to the tasting, there will be chile by the bowl, chili dogs and frito pies for purchase.
Holiday play
“It’s a Wonderful Life” continues at The Westmoreland Players, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. Shows will be staged at 7:30 p.m. November 28, 29 and December 5, and 3 p.m. November 30 and December 6 and 7.

CASA wreaths
Those who ordered holiday wreaths through the Northern Neck Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) are reminded of upcoming pickup dates and times.
The CASA wreaths can be picked up from 4-6 p.m. December 4 and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. December 5 and 6 at Grace Church, Kilmarnock; 10 a.m.-noon December 6 at Primis Bank, Burgess; and 10 a.m.-noon December 6 at the Saddlery, Warsaw.
Village Christmas
The village of Weems will hold a Christmas parade, pageant and potluck dinner at 4:30 p.m. December 6 at the end of Weems Road. Guests may park in the Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church parking lot.
Festival of the Trees
The Northern Neck Family YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock, will host the 28th annual Festival of Trees December 5 and 6. The theme is “Together We Shine.” An open house will be held from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. December 5.
A gala and live auction will begin at 6 p.m. December 6. Gala tickets are $100. They can be purchased at ymcavp.org/fot, at the Northern Neck Family YMCA welcome desk, or by emailing fot@ymcavp.org. Those unable to attend may also participate through proxy bidding by calling 435-0223.
Angel Tree
The Rivah’s “Local Angel Tree Project” is underway. The public is urged to pick up an angel in need from The Rivah, 49 South Main Street, Kilmarnock. Each name on the Angel Tree will have a list of items.
The items can be delivered to The Rivah by December 18. Use gift bags and attach the angel from the tree onto the bag.
Christmas Town
Palestine Lodge #100, 1434 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock, will host Christmas Town at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 7, for ages 1-14. The free event will include music, games, hot chocolate, refreshments, toys, purchased photos with Santa and The Grinch.
Christmas memories
The Chesapeake Chorale will present Christmas Memories concerts at 8 p.m. December 6 at Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock; and 3 p.m. December 7 at St. Clare Walker Middle School, 6814 General Puller Highway, Locust Hill.
Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at Country Cottage in White Stone, Pearl Boutique and Chesapeake Bank in Kilmarnock, and from Chorale members and at the door.
Christmas show
Kilmarnock Museum will sponsor a bus trip to the Old Dominion Barn Dance Christmas Show December 13, featuring Ronnie McDowell. The bus will depart from Chesapeake Commons in Kilmarnock at 11:30 a.m. The $140 fee covers roundtrip fare, show tickets and snacks on the bus.

Adams Post 86
American Legion Adams Post 86 meets at 5 p.m. on third Tuesdays at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.
