Festival of the Trees

The Festival of the Trees will be held December 5-7 at the Northern Neck Family YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock. The event will start with an open house viewing of the trees from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

The gallery will be open and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday. A formal gala/auction will be held from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Gala tickets are $50 each. For tickets, call. 435-0223.

Boxwood wreaths

The Middlesex County Woman’s Club is taking orders for handmade, fresh boxwood wreaths. Wreaths are $40 and measure approximately 14 1/2 to 15 inches in diameter. Bows are $5.

Wreath reminder

For those who ordered wreaths through the Northern Neck CASA, the pickup dates are this week.

For Kilmarnock pickups are 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 5, and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7 at Chesapeake Commons Shopping Center. For Burgess, pickup is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Sonabank; and Warsaw, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Distribution Center.

Trolley Express

The Kilmarnock Trolley Express will run December 6 and 7, offering show times every 15 minutes from 6-8 p.m. at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Tickets are $10 per child and $15 per adult. Tickets are on sale and can only be purchased at kilmarnockva.ticketleap.com.

Community orchestra

The Courthouse Community Orchestra will present concerts Saturday, December 7, at Newington Baptist Church, 6169 Main Street, Gloucester; Tuesday, December 10, at Urbanna Baptist Church, 121 Watling Street, Urbanna; and Saturday, December 14, at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church, 2011 Old Ferry Road, Gwynn.

All three concerts will begin at 7 p.m.

Ice Age

Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will host a Geo Series Program, Ice Age at Stratford Hall, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 7. The speaker will be Dr. Robert Weem.

Quilt raffle

American Legion Adams Post 86 Ladies Auxiliary is conducting a quilt raffle. Three separate drawings will be held Saturday, December 7, to award a patriotic, queen-size quilt, a baby quilt in yellow and green and a crib blanket in a Thomas the Tank Engine motif.

Carol sing

The Chesapeake Chorale and the Christchurch School Cantorion will perform at Historic Christ Church & Museum’s “The Holly & The Ivy” at 3:30 p.m. Monday, December 9, at Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems.

Admission is two nonperishable items for the Healthy Harvest Food Bank. After the carol sing, guests are invited to a reception in the Bayne Event Center. Treats will include mulled cider, coffee and homemade cookies.

Holiday show

The Northumberland County Historical Society (NCHS) on Sunday, December 8, will host “A Holiday Concert by The Gurleys.” The free concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Ball Memorial Library and Museum, 86 Back Street, Heathsville.

Bill and Pam Gurley will perform a mix of folk, bluegrass and blues with a dose of humor. Refreshments will be served.

Lessons and carols

Christchurch School will present its 39th annual Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 8, in St. Peter’s Chapel on the school campus, 49 Seahorse Lane, Christchurch.

Seatings will be at 4 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. The public is invited. The program is free and reservations are not necessary. The festival will include performances by Cantorion, and student and faculty soloists.

Band concert

The Lancaster High School Band will present its annual Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 12, at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Holiday homecoming

Shane Cooley will present his annual “holiday homecoming” concert from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, December 12, at Willaby’s on the Rappahannock, 327 Old Ferry Road, White Stone.

He will play songs from his new 50-song acoustic collection. The performance will be solo and with his father, Jack Cooley on drums.

Fashion show

The third annual Mistletoe & Mimosas, Fashion Show and Holiday Brunch will be held from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. December 13 at Festival Halle, 177 Main Street, Reedville.

Fashion show tickets are $35 per person and are only available at Dream’s Fashion Boutique, 702 Jessie duPont Highway, Burgess.

Christmas on

Cockrell’s Creek

The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum, 504 Main Street, Reedville, will present the 25th “Christmas on Cockrell’s Creek” December 14 and 15. Tickets for the Christmas house tour are $25 in advance and $30 on tour days. Purchase advance tickets at the museum, 453-6529, or rfmuseum.org.
