Caregiver seminar

A caregiver support seminar will be held from 2-3 p.m. Friday, December 15, at Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. Mary Arthur will present Planning for the Future.

Dance lessons

Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury will offer a 12-week basic ballroom dance class for ages 63 and older, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays, January 12 through April 5, in the Life Enrichment Center at 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington. 

The fee is $120 for the 12-week session and no partner is necessary. The instructor will be Michelle Kellum of Weems. To reserve a spot on the dance floor, call Tammy Jo, 438-4350, by December 15.

Shrimp & Oyster

Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department (ULVFD) will hold the all you can eat Shrimp & Oyster Dinner February 3, 2024, at the Lively Firehouse, 5170 Mary Ball Road, Lively. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 4-7 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per person. Purchase tickets from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturdays; Chesapeake Bank in Lively, Primis Bank in Burgess, Noblett in Kilmarnock, from ULVFD members, 462-5404, 436-2276, or 462-0186.

Gardening seminar

The Northern Neck Master Gardeners (NNMG) Association will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gardening in the Northern Neck Seminar (GNN) on April 13. The seminar will be held at Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.

The theme will be “Creating Outdoor Spaces—Defining Your Lifestyle.” The seminar fee is $50. Lunches will be available for an additional fee. Registration forms will be available February 1 at www.nnmg.org.

Chicken dinners

Chicken dinners will be available from 5-6:30 p.m. on first Mondays at American Legion Post #117, 39 School Street, Reedville. However, the January dinner will be held January 8 because since the first Monday is New Year’s Day.

Meals include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, choice of vegetables, salad, roll, dessert and drink. Dinners are $12 for adults and $6 for children ages 12 and younger, at the door.
