Celebration
The Northumberland County Community Center Organization, 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville, will host a New Year’s Eve Celebration beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, December 31, and extending to 1 a.m. Wednesday, January 1. Oldies But Goodies music by DJRell will be featured.

Speaker series
Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington, will launch the 2025 Second Saturday Speaker Series at 2 p.m. January 11. Greg Kirkbride will present “America’s Tall Ship – the Coast Guard Barque EAGLE.”

Sundays at Two
The Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock, recently announced its 2025 Sundays at Two program. The free series will open January 12. Melvin Veney will present “Veney’s: The Making of a Northern Neck Small Business Icon.”
The series will continue January 19 with Brad Perry, “NASA & Me: From Apollo to James Webb Space Telescope;” February 2, Terry Burke, “Why America is losing ‘The War on Drugs’;” February 16, Dan Noreen, “Myths and Facts About Organ Donation & Transplantation;” March 16, Michael Conlin, “AI 101: Demystifying Artificial Intelligence;” and March 23, Peter Theroux, “In Obscura: Adventures in the World of Intelligence.”
Burns event
The Kilmarnock & District Pipe Band will hold its annual Tribute to Robert Burns event January 25 at the Masonic Lodge #100, 1434 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock. The program will focus on a concert with piping, singing, poetry and dancing. The event will offer snacks and set-ups (BYOB). Doors will open at 1 p.m., the program will begin at 2 p.m.
