Win a quilt
The American Legion Adams Post 86 Ladies Auxiliary is conducting a raffle of a hand-embroidered king/queen size quilt. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
Tickets may be purchased from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. June 26 and 27 in front of Tri-Star Supermarket, 81 Irvington Road, Kilmarnock, or from any auxiliary member. A drawing will be held on September 16.
Chamber concerts
The Northern Neck Orchestra Chamberfest will continue with present “Music by Brahms and Haydn” at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Good Luck Cellars, 1025 Goodluck Road, Kilmarnock.
Tickets are $35 each and may be purchased at the door or www.northernneckorchestra.org. Students will be admitted free with an online reservation.
Unearthing history
Archaeologist Dr. Julia King on Sunday, June 29, will speak on the Rappahannock Tribe and Bacon’s Rebellion. The presentation will begin at 4 p.m. at the Old Middlesex County Courthouse, 865 General Puller Highway, Saluda.
King will discuss her recent archaeological work in the Dragon Swamp. The program is sponsored by the Middlesex County Museum and Historical Society.
Grief support
A Grief Support Group meets from 1-2 p.m. Tuesdays at The Bay Center, 482 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. To register, call 436-6362.
Heritage concert
Ampersand will present “Music in the New Nation: Popular Songs & Tunes during America’s Founding Years,” from 7-8:30 p.m. July 3 at Lebanon Baptist Church, 20 Alfonso Road, Lancaster.
Admission is $10 at the door. Families are welcome, children younger than 14 will be admitted free with an adult.
Parade time
The Town of Irvington will hold its annual 4th of July Hometown Parade at 11 a.m. July 4 along King Carter Drive, Irvington.

Family Fun Day
The Friends of Northumberland County Animal Shelter will sponsor a Family Fun Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. July 12 at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. Please leave furry friends at home, adoptable animals are eager to meet everyone.
Activities will include a free bounce house, face painting with a minimum $5 donation, a scavenger hunt with prizes and raffles. Snow cones, hot dogs and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Post 86
American Legion Adams Post 86 meets at 5 p.m. on third Tuesdays at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.
Rotary meetings
The Northern Neck Rotary Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on second and fourth Wednesdays at River Counties Community Foundation, 834 Rappahannock Drive, White Stone. Those interested in the speaker topics or Rotary are welcome.
