LemonAid

Allure Art Center this week will team up with hundreds of businesses and organizations in Central Virginia for Anthem LemonAid, helping kids with cancer. They will set up temporary lemonade stands with proceeds to benefit the Hematology Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at Virginia Commonwealth University.

A lemonade stand will be manned from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, July 14, through Sunday, July 16, in front of Allure Art Center, 419 Rappahannock Drive, Kilmarnock. Anthem LemonAid is Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s annual summertime fundraising event.

CAPINNÉ

Tickets are on sale for the 27th annual CAPINNÉ, Dancing with the Northern Neck Stars at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck, 517 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The fee is $50 per person. Tables of 6 or 8 may be reserved.

The event, an upscale social gathering, will feature a dance competition, heavy hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, raffles and door prizes. Ticket order forms can be obtained from any Northern Neck Rotarian, or 435-4169.

Cockrell reunion

The 33rd Cockrell reunion will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Lancaster Ruritan Center, Lively. This reunion is for descendants of Dandridge W. and Naomi Bush Cockrell.

Farm to Fork

The Northern Neck Farm Museum, 12705 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will host its Farm To Fork Dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 15.

The menu will include barbecue chicken, potato salad, sliced tomatoes, bread, baked beans, and dessert for $40 per person. Proceeds benefit the museum. Call 435-6532 or 761-5952 for more details.

Computer users

The Northern Neck Computer Users Group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. The guest speaker will be Steve Kancianic, Certified Professional Photographer and owner of Yours Truly Photography in Kilmarnock. 

The Tablet Special Interest Group will meet at 9 a.m. at the same location to discuss photo apps. Visitors are welcome, contact BJ Thomas McMillan, 580-8666.

Post picnic

American Legion Post 88 and the Ladies Auxiliary invite all area veterans and their families to their annual picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Post Home, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock. 

Assessing art

Representatives of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will discuss the resources and processes used in evaluating objects and collections from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Tappahannock Art Gallery and Community Art Center, 200 Prince Street, Tappahannock,

Workshop participants will be offered tips and sources available online for identifying and valuing family treasures. Details and costs are available at the gallery, or Frank Rixey, 445-5131.

On Stage

The Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts recently announced its 2017-18 On Stage season. Concerts will include Brass Transit, October 7; Robin and Linda Williams, November 18; John Brown Little Big Band, ‘Holiday in Swing’ Concert, December 16; MozART, March 9; and Sons of Serendip, April 14. Shows will be presented at the Lancaster Middle School Theater, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock.
