TSoul concert

Music on the Half Shell Stage will host TSoul from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today, August 10, at the Kilmarnock Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock.

Admission to the TSoul performance is $5 per person. Proceeds go to the Northern Neck Boys and Girls Club. All tickets will be sold at the door. Chesapeake Bank will collect back-to-school supplies for the YMCA Bright Beginnings program.

Chicken dinner

Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad, 7900 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville, will serve a fried chicken dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 12.

The menu will include fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, yams, rolls, tea, punch and desserts. A donation of $10 is suggested for adults. Eat-in or carry-out dinners will be available.

Crab feast

Tickets are on sale for the sixth annual Irvington Crab Festival Saturday, August 12, on the Irvington Commons, 98 King Carter Drive, Irvington. Grounds will open at 4 p.m. and crabs will be served at 5 p.m. The Legacy Band will rock the crowd. Beer and wine will be available for purchase and there will be a silent auction.

Tickets are $50 for adults and $10 for ages 12 and younger. Ticket prices are subject to increase based on crab availability. To purchase tickets, visit the Steamboat Era Museum, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays or Saturdays, or go to steamboateramuseum.org. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Indoor auctions

Urbanna United Methodist Church, 221 Marston Avenue, Urbanna, will hold auctions on Saturday, August 12. A silent auction will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a live auction from 4 to 5 p.m.

Auction items will include a 4-hour sailboat ride with lunch, a 5-hour cleaning service, table lamps, a piano recital in your home and furniture.

Yard sale

The Northumberland County Democratic Committee will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 12, at the Northumberland County Community Center Organization, 679 Browns Store Road, Heathsville.

Sale items may be donated from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, August 10, or 10 a.m. to noon Friday, August 11, at the Community Center.

Post 82 meeting

The American Legion will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, at the Post Home, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock.  All members and war era veterans are invited. Refreshments will be served. The Ladies Auxiliary also will meet.

Cabaret

The Westmoreland Players will present “I Am a Camera” through August 20 at The Players Theatre, 16217 Richmond Road, Callao. The show will be staged at 3 p.m. August 13, 19 and 20; and 7:30 p.m. August 11, 12, 17 and 18.

Barbecue and country gospel

Special Olympics-Area 28 will hold its annual summer fundraiser featuring barbecue and Southern Grace, a country gospel band, from 5 to 8 p.m. August 18 at the Trinity Episcopal Church Pavilion, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster. The band will play from 6 to 8 p.m.

The barbecue dinner will include baked beans, coleslaw, chips, drink and dessert. The fee is $10 per plate.

Cool music

JJ & Company will be featured at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum 2017 summer concert series, Cool Music for Hot Summer Nights, from 7 to 10 p.m. August 20 at the RFM Pavilion, 504 Main Street, Reedville.

Tickets are $10. Tickets are available at the RFM, or at the venue.

Bay Bash

The Bay Bash Family Fishing Tournament and Benefit Concert will be held Saturday, August 12, at Ingram Bay Marina in Wicomico Church.

This is a full day event featuring a multi-species fishing tournament followed by an awards ceremony at 7 p.m. and benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. with Jukin’, food, beverages, a raffle and a bounce amusement for youth. Jukin’ will perform southern rock.

Barbecue dinner

The American Legion Adams Post 86 and the Ladies Auxiliary will host their fifth annual old-fashioned barbecue dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. August 19, at the Post, 882 Waverly Avenue, Kilmarnock. The menu will include pork barbecue, baked beans, coleslaw, corn, rolls, iced tea and home baked desserts. Options include eat-in or carry-out meals.

Tickets are available at Lester’s Barber Shop in Kilmarnock and from Heather at 436-7466. Tickets also will be available at the door while they last.

Cooley concert

Shane Cooley will be featured from 7 to 9 p.m. August 24 at Willaby’s on the Rappahannock, 327 Old Ferry Road, White Stone.

Dueling pianos

The Graham brothers will present back-to-back concerts at 7:30 p.m. August 25 and 3:30 p.m. August 26 at Irvington Baptist Church, 53 King Carter Drive, Irvington. The concerts will benefit the Steamboat Era Museum’s Potomac pilothouse restoration project.

MVFD crab feast

The ninth annual Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department crab feast will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. August 26, at the Urbanna Firehouse, 340 Virginia Street, Urbanna. The menu will include all-you-can-eat crabs, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and drinks inside the air-conditioned firehouse.

Tickets are $28 in advance and $35 at the gate. Ages 10 and younger eat free. Advance tickets are available at Marshall’s Drug Store, Big John’s Store, Ace Hardware and from any member of the fire department or ladies auxiliary.
