Family reunion
The 74th annual Atkins & Dodson family reunion will be held at noon Sunday, August 26, at “Fantasyland Shelter” Shelter #5, Commerce Avenue, Front Royal.

Crab feast
The Northumberland County Community Center Organization, 679 Brown Store Road, Heathsville, will hold a crab feast from 3 to 7 p.m. September 1. The menu will include all-you-can-eat crabs, hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, baked beans, pasta salad, tea and sodas.

Yorktown tour
The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society-Mary Ball Washington Museum will offer a “Revolutionary Yorktown Bus Tour” from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 6. The trip will feature visits to the Colonial National Historical Park Yorktown Battlefield, American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and Grace Episcopal Church and Cemetery.
Advance payment of $95 is required to make a reservation. Members can take advantage of priority registration and a discounted rate of $85. Museum crab feast
The Morattico Waterfront Museum, 6584 Morattico Road, Morattico, will hold its seventh annual crab feast September 8. The event will open at 3:30 p.m. in the museum pavilion. Crabs will be served from 4 to 6 p.m.

Author luncheon
Liz Mundy, author of Code Girls, will be guest speaker at the September 13 Author Event sponsored by Rappahannock Community College Friends of the Library. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1717 Hampton Hall Road, Callao.

Wine & oysters
Stratford Hall, 483 Great House Road, Stratford, will host the 2018 Stratford Hall Wine & Oyster Festival from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. September 15-16. The event will feature wines from Virginia wineries and oysters from Chesapeake Bay and Tidewater oyster growers. To purchase tickets visit StratfordHall.org. Pre-sale discount adult tasting tickets are $25; adult non-tasting tickets, $15; ages 6-12, $5; and ages 5 and younger, free. Discount ticket sales end September 6. Week prior online sales and day of event adult tasting tickets are $30 each. Other admission remains the same.
Concerts by the Bay
The Concerts by the Bay 2018-19 performance series will open September 16 with “The Boxers, A tribute to Simon & Garfunkel.” Concerts will be staged at the Mathews High School Auditorium, 9889 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews.

Indoor yard sale
An indoor yard sale to benefit the Northumberland County Animal Shelter is held regularly at the Northumberland School Administration Building, 2172 Northumberland Highway, Lottsburg.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. second and fourth Saturdays.
Garden party
The Chesapeake Bay Garden Club is celebrating its 65th anniversary with a Garden Party from 2-4 p.m. September 25 at Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern, 73 Monument Place, Heathsville.
It will be a time to mingle and celebrate old and new garden club friendships and accomplishments.
Fall Festival
The 23rd annual Fairfields UMC Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 29 at Fairfields United Methodist Church, 14741 Northumberland Highway, Burgess. Proceeds will support the Covington Hurst Education Fund and other charities.
The event will feature North Carolina-style barbecue, baked goods, homemade soups, clowns, a white elephant sale, children’s identification, animals, silent auction, children’s activities and vendors.
Music festival
The Colonial Beach Community Foundation, in collaboration with the Colonial Beach Chamber of Commerce, will host the first Northern Neck Beach Music Festival from noon to 8 p.m. September 22 at Town Hill, 500 Washington Avenue, Colonial Beach. The festival will feature a concert with The Embers and The Rhondels, shag dance lessons and a dance contest. Vendors will offer food and beverages, including beer and wine.

House party
The Richmond County Museum will host a Historic House Party at Milden Hall from 2-5 p.m. September 29. The event will celebrate the 410th anniversary of Capt. John Smith’s arrival in the Northern Neck. Highlights will include an exhibit on Milden Hall; representatives from Rappahannock Indian Tribe, the Oyster Growers of America, Friends of the Rappahannock and Northern Neck Native Plant Society; information on grants, projects, guides and genealogy; and local art.

Oyster roast
Chesapeake Academy will host the 17th annual Community Oyster Roast from 5-9 p.m. October 13 on the Rowe Campus in Irvington. The menu will include all of the roasted oysters-you-can-eat, fried oysters, clam chowder, French fried sweet potatoes, hot dogs and hamburgers and dessert. Beer, wine, soft drinks and music by the Phun Doctors included.
