Easter dinner

The Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad (MCVRS) Cooks Squad will serve an Easter dinner to go at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at the MCVRS, 7990 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville. The menu will include honey glazed ham, green beans, sweet and white scalloped potatoes, peas and corn, potato rolls and dessert.

Boating bunny

The Easter Bunny will return to Reedville by boat April 4, arriving at 10 a.m. at the Reedville Fishermen’s Museum dock on Cockrell Creek at 504 Main Street, Reedville.

Families are invited to join the bunny for an Easter egg hunt on the grounds and next door at Bethany United Methodist Church. Separate hunts are scheduled at the same time for ages 0-3, 4-7 and 8 and older.

Reminiscing

Marshall Orr will present a Tale of Two Brothers at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington. He’ll share World War II stories of his father and uncle.

Weems egg hunt

The Weems Easter egg hunt will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3712 Weems Road, Weems.

The community will gather for refreshments, crafts and a bunny trail tractor ride.

Beekeepers

The Northern Neck Beekeepers Club meets at 7 p.m. on second Mondays at Heathsville United Methodist Church,39 Courthouse Road, Heathsville.

SAR luncheon

The Richard Henry Lee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will meet at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at the Bayne Conference Center, Historic Christ Church, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems. Lunch will begin at noon.

Poetry Collective

The LCL Poetry Collective, an intermediate-level poetry group, meets on Third Wednesdays through May at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock. The group will next meet at 6 p.m. April 15.

The guest poet/speaker will be Dr. Allener M. Baker-Rogers. She will discuss “What’s in A Poem and Why We Write Them-Life’s Reflections.”

Post 86

American Legion Adams Post 86 meets at 5 p.m. on third Tuesdays at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

‘Teddy’s Piece’

The Lancaster Players will present “Teddy’s Piece,” April 17-19 at The Playhouse, 631 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone. Shows will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Country doctor

The Northumberland County Historical Society (NCHS) on April 19 will host Tales by a Country Doctor with Dr. W. Emory Lewis.

The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Ball Memorial Library and Museum, 86 Back Street, Heathsville.

Membership drive

American Legion Post 86 recently announced a membership drive and fellowship event from noon-2 p.m. April 21 and Nacho Average Brewpub, 41 West Church Street, Kilmarnock.

Members will receive free food and a drink. Veterans can join at the door. If the fee is a barrier, Post 86 will cover it for any veteran who wishes to join under the “No Veteran Left Behind” initiative.

Benefit gala

The annual Diamonds & Denim gala and auction will be held April 25 at Healthy Harvest Food Bank, 55 Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Doors will open at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $75 each and include beer, wine, signature drinks, dinner, dessert and entertainment. Purchase tickets at www.hhfb.org.

History talk

Author and military historian, Dr. Patrick H. Hannum, will speak on “The Virginia Campaign of 1775: Great Bridge & Removing Dunmore” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, at Mathews Memorial Library, 251 Main Street, Mathews.

The talk is sponsored by Mathews County VA250. Refreshments will be served.

Photo group

The Rappahannock Art League Photo Group seeks new members of all levels who wish to improve their skills. The Photo Group meets at 10 a.m. on third Mondays at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

Concerts By The Bay will present The Holiday Band at 3 p.m. April 26 at the Harry M. Ward Auditorium, Mathews High School, 9889 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews. The group will perform “Good ‘Ole Beach Music.”
