SHACKLEFORDS—At approximately 11:52 p.m. on Friday, September 13, Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a two-vehicle crash on Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway about .12 of a mile east of The Trail, according to the VSP.
A 2006 Nissan Maxima, driven by Craig Adam Jowers, 35, of Urbanna was traveling the wrong way, west in the eastbound lanes, of Lewis B. Puller Memorial Highway and struck a 2005 Nissan Armada, driven by Michael Scott Walker, 38, of Gloucester, head on.
Jowers succumbed to injuries at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Walker was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.
This crash remains under investigation, said VSP Sgt. Jessica Shehan, Division 1 public information officer.
