VerMeer focuses on University of Iowa volleyball program

Lexi VerMeer has verbally committed to play volleyball for the University of Iowa, making her the first Lancaster High School volleyball player to commit to a Division 1 school and the first to play for a Big Ten Conference university.

Lancaster High School junior Lexi VerMeer has verbally committed to play volleyball at the University of Iowa.

VerMeer is a commit for the Class of 2028. The commitment is verbal and can be broken by VerMeer or the university.

“I’m just so awestruck. It’s just crazy to think about. I never thought I’d be at that big of a school,” said VerMeer.

As a sophomore, the 16-year-old hitter helped lead Lancaster to a record-breaking 22-6 season in 2025 when LHS finished as a Class 1 state semifinalist….
