The Virginia High School League’s (VHSL) 2019 Class 1 all-state girls volleyball teams were released December 19 and included several local players.
Auburn High School senior outside hitter Rachel Harding was named the player of the year and Auburn head coach Sherry Millirons was named the coach of the year. The two led Auburn to the Class 1 state championship with a 3-1 win over Riverheads in the title game. Auburn is in Riner; Riverheads is in Staunton.
Senior hitter Ella Campbell of Rappahannock High School and junior Laura Walton of Middlesex High School were both named to the all-state first team. The Lady Chargers also named two to the all-state second team in juniors Elizabeth Ketner and Airiana Beverly. Rappahannock senior Regan Allen also was named to the second team.
