Video series spotlights two Revolutionary War leaders

During the Revolutionary War, a father and son from Northumberland County made distinct and important contributions to both their community and the war effort. The March installment of Countdown to Independence shares their story. Produced by the Northumberland County Historical Society, it streams on the Northern Neck History Channel on YouTube.

Thomas Gaskins Sr., of Wicomico Parish, born in 1710, was too old for military service when the war began, but he held important positions in local politics. According to “Pillars of Liberty’s Temple,” by Dr. Richard C.
