Virginia Junior League Baseball tourney is slated here July 9-14

Lancaster County Little League and Dream Fields will welcome hundreds of ball players, family members and fans from across the state this weekend for the Virginia Junior League Baseball Tournament.

The Lancaster County Little League Junior Baseball All Stars recently won the District 15 championship. The Lancaster junior team will compete on its home field as the District 15 representative after going unbeaten to win the district all-star tournament last week in Mathews (See related story in Sports pages).

“It’s always great to play at home in front of your fans and generally, the community always comes out for baseball, whether it’s high school or Little League,” said Lancaster manager Scotty George. “So we’re hoping to have a good crowd there to support us.”

Opening ceremonies for the Virginia tournament will be held at 5:30 p.m. today, July 9, at Town Centre Park, 150 North Main Street, Kilmarnock. The community is invited to come welcome the ball players and….
