Virginia Mae Knudsen

RICHMOND—Virginia Mae Knudsen, 80, of Richmond, passed away peacefully in her home on March 22, 2022.

Virginia was born on November 4, 1941, in Irvington. She attended Lancaster High School and then received her Registered Nurse diploma from St. Luke’s Hospital. She worked in nursing for 27 years before retiring to care for her husband who had fallen ill.

Virginia loved spending time with her family as well as getting to know anyone that she met. You made her day if you simply sat down to talk over a glass of tea. She will be dearly missed by many.

Virginia is survived by her son, David Knudsen and his wife, Kelly; her grandchildren, Barrett, Grady and Bodie; her sister, Jean Simmons; her niece, Alexa Perkinson; and her nephews, Andy Simmons and Stephen Simmons.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allan Knudsen; her parents, Lee R. and Isla Mae Barrack; and her brother, Roy Barrack.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Woody Funeral Home-Parham, 1771 North Parham Road, Richmond. The family accepted visitors at 12:30 p.m. Following the service, there was a private interment for family members.
