Virginia State Police investigating accident

EMMERTON—On Tuesday, August 6, at approximately 2:15 a.m., the Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a Richmond County Deputy being struck on westbound Route 3, west of Route 642.

The trooper’s preliminary investigation reveals that the deputy was providing traffic control with his lights activated in a marked Dodge Charger for a wrecker loading another vehicle in the westbound lane of travel on Route 3, reported Division One public information officer Sgt. Keeli L. Hill.
