Visitor spending for King George, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland counties reached $194.8 million in 2023, a 5% increase over 2022. Tourism-supported jobs in the Northern Neck totaled 1,400 while tourism-related taxes were $13.1 million.
“Tourism is a pillar of the Northern Neck’s economy and continues to grow,” said Northern Neck Planning District Commission (NNPDC) executive director Jerry W. Davis, AICP. “The Northern Neck’s designation as a National Heritage Area attracts visitors interested in the Northern Neck’s historical, cultural and environmental heritage.”
