RICHMOND—The Election Day, Tuesday, April 21, is the final day for weighing in statewide on a proposed redistricting amendment. Voters will have until Saturday, April 18, to vote early.
According to the Virginia Department of Elections, the proposed language for the ballot question asks “Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?”
Among other key deadlines for the special election—ballots returned in person must be received by 7p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, and ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by April 21 and received no later than noon on April 24.
In Lancaster, in-person early voting will continue at the Voter Registration Office, 8311 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster, through Saturday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. A ballot drop box is located outside, accessible 24 hours.
