LARA—At approximately 3 a.m. Saturday, May 13, Virginia State Police arrived on scene on Lara Ridge Road in Northumberland County and discovered a 74-year-old male from Heathsville deceased inside his home.
The Virginia State Police Bureau (VSP) of Criminal Investigation, Richmond Field Office, responded to assist in the investigation of the suspected homicide, reported Sgt. Jessica Shehan, VSP public information officer.

Meanwhile, Northumberland County Sheriff Johnny Beauchamp said on Tuesday, May 16, that all indications point to this being an isolated incident.
