To beach or not to beach!

While at the beach this past week, I observed many people and their dogs enjoying the sand and surf.

The beach had two rules; dogs must be on a leash no longer than 25 feet and humans must pick up after their pups. Those rules seem pretty basic, but how do people know their fur babies will enjoy the beach? Do all dogs?

Some dogs will chase tennis balls into the waves forever. However, some dogs don’t like the feeling of sand under their paws or the movement of the waves.

If you are unsure whether your pup would enjoy a trip to the beach, a nice place to test the waters is Hughlett Point Natural Area Preserve. This beach will offer your pup a small-scale introduction to the sand and gentle…..
