REEDVILLE—Walter Lewis Nalls Jr., 83, passed away January 22, 2021.
He was born on March 21, 1937, in Richmond to his parents, Dr. Walter Lewis Nalls and Aileen Williams Nalls.
He grew up in Alexandria and was graduated from Randolph Macon Academy, Front Royal, in 1955. He served in the United States Army on active and reserve duty during the period of 1960-1966, when he was honorably discharged.
He was married to Moira Thompson Nalls, who predeceased him in 2013.
He is survived by his brother, Thomas W. Nalls of Leesburg; and his longtime friend and caregiver, Laura Sisson.
Lew was a 30-year employee of Delta Airlines, serving in operations out of Reagan International Airport, Washington, D. C. He retired to Northumberland County and has, to his great joy, resided there ever since.
His hobbies and interests over the years have included traveling in Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, etc.; model railroad trains, pleasure boating, extensive motorcycle touring both in the U. S. and foreign countries, skeet and trap shooting, and co-authoring a book on World War II military aircraft. He was a member of numerous organizations including The American Legion, National Rifle Association and American Motorcycle Association.
Interment will take place at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville.
Lew was, in all manner, an animal lover, but especially his beloved cats. It was is request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Garfield’s Rescue, P. O. Box 256, Kilmarnock, VA 22482; or Northumberland Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 1, Reedville, VA 22539.
