If you can’t be in Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day, be in Kilmarnock Saturday, March 16, to celebrate with acclaimed Celtic harpist Maeve Gilchrist and legendary Irish folk singer Karan Casey. The soloists will perform with an ensemble from the Virginia Symphony Orchestra (VSO) under the direction of Eric Jacobsen.
The show, hosted by the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts (RFA), will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Lancaster Elementary School, 191 School Street, Kilmarnock. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
“We are in for a real treat in March–an evening with artists known for their innovation, excellence and joy in performing,” said RFA board president Jamie Tucker. “For our show, harpist and composer Maeve Gilchrist will perform her very own Celtic Harp Concerto, and vocalist Karan Casey will offer us soulful takes on traditional ballads and reels, including familiar tunes like ‘The Irish Washerwoman’ and ‘Danny Boy.’”
