White Stone firehouse nears completion

The White Stone Volunteer Fire Department’s new fire station is nearing completion. The fire department hopes to take possession of the new 12,600-square-foot facility at 597 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone, by the last week of February.

It will be open to the public for the first time during the annual Rappahannock River Waterfowl Show March 16-18.

Installation of the epoxy floor is still in progress in the 6,300-square-foot apparatus room, which will house the fire trucks and equipment. The new fire station also will include a day room/lounge, several meeting rooms, kitchen, five restrooms and a bunk room.

The building was designed by Randall Kipp Architect Inc. of Irvington and built by Norman Company Inc. of Mechanicsville.
