Wildflowers of the Northern Neck, a new exhibit recently opened for August at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington. The inspiration for the show began with painter Carol Vaughn’s wildflower field.
“I first planted my wildflower field four years ago with many native flowers and grasses including black-eyed Susan, echinacea, coreopsis, bachelor buttons, cosmos and purple love grass,” said Vaughn. “It gives me so much inspiration for my paintings.”
Many of the pieces were created this spring on site or from photographs. Gardens in this show are planted on the Northern Neck.
Participating artists are members and/or exhibiting artists at the RAL Art Center. Many have over 30 years of experience in their craft. Some have never painted flowers before, while for others, this is their favorite subject.
