HEATHSVILLE—William G. Lackert Sr., 86, of Sandy Point, Heathsville, passed away April 7, 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel S. Lackert; sons, Billy Lackert, Johnny Lackert (Michelle), George Lackert, Tommy Lackert and Bobby Lackert; sister, Grace Smith; brother, Charles Lackert; stepdaughters, Sherry Fisher (Junior) and Linda Martens (Walter); stepson, Eddie Sampson; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Lackert; his first wife, Viola Lackert; son, Freddie Lackert; granddaughter, Marie Haydon; grandson, John Lackert; and sisters, Caroline Conkle and Anne Smith.
He served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army and then served as a City of Richmond Police Officer for 16 years and also worked undercover with the FBI. After his retirement, he became a captain on private yachts.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Wesley Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Weems. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
