William G. Lackert Sr.

HEATHSVILLE—William G. Lackert Sr., 86, of Sandy Point, Heathsville, passed away April 7, 2021.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel S. Lackert; sons, Billy Lackert, Johnny Lackert (Michelle), George Lackert, Tommy Lackert and Bobby Lackert; sister, Grace Smith; brother, Charles Lackert; stepdaughters, Sherry Fisher (Junior) and Linda Martens (Walter); stepson, Eddie Sampson; eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Catherine Lackert; his first wife, Viola Lackert; son, Freddie Lackert; granddaughter, Marie Haydon; grandson, John Lackert; and sisters, Caroline Conkle and Anne Smith.

He served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army and then served as a City of Richmond Police Officer for 16 years and also worked undercover with the FBI. After his retirement, he became a captain on private yachts.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Wesley Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Weems. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Presbyterian Cemetery, 70 Faith Circle, Weems, VA 22576; or Hospice of Virginia, 1328 Tappahannock Boulevard, Tappahannock, VA 22560.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Hospice of Virginia staff, especially Lori, Lynn, Megan, Amber, Brenda and Brittany.
