KILMARNOCK—William M. “Billy” Fitchett Jr., 62, was called home peacefully to the Lord on July 4, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, JoAnn; his stepchildren, Jennifer Harris and Jeff Ormond (Rose); and grandson, Nicholas Hoover.
He is also survived by his father, William M. Fitchett Sr.; his brother, Larry Fitchett (Cindy); sister, Paula Owens (Kent); nephew, Matt Owens; and niece, Madison Owens.
Billy was predeceased by his mother, Norma D. Fitchett; and grandparents, E. Odell and Florence Fitchett and Harry F. and Ohna H. Dryden.
A Lancaster High School graduate, Billy resided mostly in North Carolina after marrying and worked in retail. He loved his family and friends, NASCAR Sundays and the Carolina Panthers. He thrived in challenging family to go-cart races, knowing he would get the checkered flag. Billy and his brother, Larry, have fond memories of their early years, working on the water with their father and grandfather fishing pound nets.
Billy’s memorial service will be held on September 11, 2021, at Curry Funeral Home with a reception following at White Stone Baptist Church—time to be determined at a later date.
