
LANCASTER—William R. Blankenship Jr., 78, of Lancaster passed away on November 6, 2018.
He was a retired Metro bus driver in Washington, D.C., and a U.S. Navy veteran stationed on the USS Bennington during the onset of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Denise Lee Blankenship; three daughters, Regina Moreau and Elizabeth Snyder, both of Stafford, and Jodie Lynn Courtney of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; brothers, Herbert Blankenship and Tommy Peters, both of Tennessee, and David Blankenship of California; sisters, Donna Jones of Tennessee, Charlene Kirk of West Virginia, Karen Thistlewood of Atlanta, Ga., and Kathy Green of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Marvin and Robert Blankenship.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 11, at Currie Funeral home, Kilmarnock.
