Wilmyrna J. “Lou” Smith

KILMARNOCK—Wilmyrna Jenkins “Lou” Smith, 86, of Kilmarnock passed away February 28, 2022.

Born March 15, 1935 in Takoma Park, Maryland, she spent her childhood in Kilmarnock and attended Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market as a teenager. Returning to the Northern Neck in her late teens she met her husband, James “Smitty,” and raised her three boys in White Stone.

Later in life she moved to Alexandria and worked as an administrative assistant at the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler, and Pickering in Georgetown. When she retired she moved back to the Northern Neck to be closer to her children. A lover of beautiful clothes, a Civil War enthusiast, champion of all animals, a wonderful friend, mom, and beloved Nana her beautiful smile will be missed by all that knew and loved her.  She is survived by her sons, Michael V. Smith of Callao (Wendy George), Richard C. Smith of Irvington and J. Roger Smith (Cammie) of Kilmarnock; grandchildren Hannah S. Long (Grant) of White Stone and Holly C. Smith of Kilmarnock; and her brother, Wayne Jenkins of San Diego, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Myrtis Jenkins, and a longtime special friend, Roy Fell of Alexandria. 

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at Currie Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior.
