On August 10, an overflow of raw sewage occurred at the Windmill Point Marina, at 40 Windjammer Lane in Lancaster County, according to the Virginia Department of Health.
The overflow was at the public boat ramp and drained into the adjacent marina basin. Due to public health concerns, the boat ramp was closed.
Water tests collected by the VDH Tuesday, August 15, indicate that the effects of the spill have dissipated and there is no increased public health risk due to bacteria.
