Wind gusts down trees in lower Northern Neck
This tree in front of First Baptist Church on Courthouse Road in Heathsville was no match for the powerful winds that quickly swept through Northumberland County ahead of severe thunderstorms on Thursday, June 19. The National Weather Service in Wakefield reported the storm generated gusts of up to 60 m.p.h. At the height of the storm, Northern Neck Electric Cooperative reported 1,750 members without power within Northumberland, Lancaster and Richmond counties.
