Masters Swim Team registration is under way at the Northern Neck Family YMCA, 39 William B. Graham Court, Kilmarnock.
The YMCA Masters Swim Team is designed for the intermediate-advanced swimmer who would like to improve on endurance and stroke technique.
“Competitive swimmers and beginners are welcome,” said coach Craig Bauer.
He began swimming his senior year in high school and started coaching while attending Harding University where he obtained his undergraduate degree in physical education. After college, he moved to Florida and became an assistant coach for the Naples YMCA. Bauer left coaching to start a career but continued to swim on his own and worked with local YMCAs with swim lessons. He loves watching all the swimmers he coaches improve.
“I measure my success not by the progress made by my most talented swimmers, but by my least talented,” he said.
Bauer retired from the corporate world in 2015 and moved to Reedville to be closer to family.
