Young, inexperienced girls Varsity takes court for LHS

The Lancaster High School varsity Lady Devils dropped to 0-3 in the Northern Neck District last week after falling to Westmoreland, Rappahannock and Essex. 

LHS is scheduled to play Northumberland twice this week, including a make-up game on Saturday, January 27, at NHS with the junior varsity game starting at noon. 

Lancaster, 4-4 overall, is a young and inexperienced team, coming off a year without a varsity program. Coach Troy Henderson has an all-underclassmen team which includes junior guards Nadiyah Smith, Jessica Hernandez, Tahlia Sutton, Harmony Lee and Braelyn Johnson, junior forward Amarreona Ball, sophomore guard Keryona Smith, sophomore forward Nijae Butler, freshmen forwards Emoni Ball, Serenity Ball and Deshaya Lee and freshman guard Knowell Garrett.

Essex held Lancaster scoreless in the second and fourth quarters and the Devils were held to a single field goal in the third when the Trojans defeated LHS, 49-8. Lancaster scored six points in the first quarter then couldn’t find the net….
