Noting that boating season has already arrived, Yankee Point Racing and Cruising Club (YPRCC) Commodore Win Schwab announced the club will partner with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and Yankee Point Marina to offer an approved Boating Safety Education course Saturday, April 22.
The course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at YPRCC, 734 Oak Hill Road in Lancaster. Free and open to the public, it will cover boating essentials that are designed for both experienced and less experienced boaters, said Schwab, who is a USCG Auxiliary Flotilla and Division Staff Officer for Public Education and, along with Matt Towers, Terry Medhurst and Brian McArdle, will be one of the instructors.
“We plan to cover fundamental things like traditional boating vocabulary, safety equipment, navigation, safe operation, emergencies, legal considerations, trailering, and a host of other details,” he said.
The course, according to YPRCC trustee and educational coordinator Warren Hottle, is legally required….
