VIRGINIA BEACH—Yvonne George Glass, 77, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 25, 1943, in Norfolk and was the daughter of the late Elma Harris George and Leon Wesley George. Yvonne was a graduate of Norview High School’s class of ’61. She was a member of Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
She worked at Piedmont General Aviation and then became a flight attendant at Piedmont Airlines. After retirement, she became a Mary Kay consultant and director and she was a volunteer at Lake Taylor Rehabilitation Center.
Yvonne loved cruising on their boat, Seaglass, with her husband, Doug. She had many hobbies including golfing, painting, singing and playing guitar with her good friend, Lewis.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, James D. Glass Jr.; her daughter, Ashley B. Knox and husband, Trey, of Virginia Beach; granddaughter, Wesley M. Knox, who knew her as Damoo, and fiancé, Fred Fillah, of Virginia Beach; sister, Sylvia G. Witherspoon and husband, Larry, of Montross; brother, Kenneth L. George Sr. and wife, Dean, of Chesapeake; cousins, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly.
Yvonne loved life, her family, her friends, and loved the Lord.
Yvonne was taken care of by her wonderful angels, Tania Peace and Darlene McGee, along with the staff of Interim Hospice.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Lynnhaven Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 136 South Lynnhaven Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23452; or St. Jude Hospital for Children.
